BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained two Palestinian women while crossing the Qalandiya checkpoint north of occupied Jerusalem, on Sunday evening.

Israeli police sources said that Israeli border guards detained a Palestinian woman from Nablus, in the northern West Bank, while crossing the Qalandiya checkpoint using the car lane.

Israeli border police reportedly suspected the woman, ordered her to stop, fired shots in the air when she did not respond before detaining her.

Earlier Sunday, Israeli forces had detained another Palestinian woman from Ramallah City, in the central West Bank, as she was passing the Qalandiya checkpoint.

Israeli forces reportedly found a knife in the woman’s possession.

The two women were transferred for interrogation.
