Israeli forces carry out search and detention raids across West Bank

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least four Palestinians, on predawn Saturday, from different areas across the occupied West Bank.

In the southern West Bank district of Hebron, locals reported that Israeli forces detained one Palestinian, identified as Muhammad Khader al-Umour, from the al-Tawani village near Yatta.

Another Palestinian, identified as Ahmad Mazen Harb, was detained by Israeli forces while at a checkpoint near the Haggai illegal Israeli settlement in southern Hebron.

Sources added that Israeli forces also raided and searched neighborhoods in the Beit Fajjar town near Bethlehem in the southern West Bank.

Israeli forces also confiscated surveillance cameras recordings from Beit Fajjar.

In the Jerusalem district in the central West Bank, Israeli forces confiscated surveillance cameras recordings, fired stun grenades and tear-gas bombs targeting homes in the Hizma town, east of Jerusalem.

A Palestinian identified as Abed al-Rahman Ishteiwi was detained while at a checkpoint in Qalqiliya City in the northern West Bank, while another, identified as Munther Abu Jildeh, was detained at the Zaatara checkpoint in southern Nablus, also in the northern West Bank.

Israeli forces imposed strict restrictions at the Zaatara checkpoint on vehicles and pedestrians leaving Nablus.

Israeli forces also raided the Azmut village in Nablus.

Additionally, Israeli forces raided the Haifa Street in western Jenin City in the northern West Bank.

Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,500 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 230 are child prisoners and 41 are under the age of 16 years.
