Israeli forces detain 32 Palestinians in West Bank raids

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 32 Palestinians in overnight raids carried out across the occupied West Bank, on predawn Monday.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said that Israeli police forces detained at least nine Palestinians from Jerusalem in the central West Bank, mostly in the Shufat, al-Tur, and Jabal al-Mukabbir areas.

The detainees were identified as Alaa Haddad, Ashraf Eweisat, Ayman Daajneh, Marwan Najib, Subhi Najib, Muhammad Gharabli, Youssef Abu al-Hawa, Hashem Abu al-Hawa and Amin Abu al-Hawa.

Some of the detainees were later released under the condition of being held under house arrest.

Israeli forces detained 19 Palestinians from the central West Bank district of Ramallah, including 14 from Kobar village, northwest of Ramallah.

Twenty one Palestinians were detained from the Ramallah and al-Bireh district; PPS identified them as Hamed Riyad Hamed and Saed Hamed from Silwad, Ashraf Saaf from al-Mazraa al-Sharqiya, former prisoner Abdullah Abu Shalbak and Jaber Mamdouh Jaber from Kafr Nimeh.

In addition to 14 Palestinians who were detained from the Kobar village; the detainees were identified as Jawdat Sarhan al-Barghouthi, Muhammad Sarhan al-Barghouthi, Muhammad Munir al-Barghouthi, Muhannad Rayyan al-Barghouthi, Miqdad Zahi al-Barghouthi, Ismail Zahi al-Barghouthi, Zahi Ismail al-Barghouthi, Yasser al-Fahl, Nael Omar Yassin, Muhammad Ibrahim al-Barghouthi, Abed Judeh Abu Maher, Muhammad Lutfi al-Barghouthi, Saher al-Barghouthi and Imad al-Barghouthi.

Israeli forces detained two Palestinians from the northern West Bank district of Jenin; they were identified as Muhammad Jihad Abu Bakr and Usama Amarneh.

Another two Palestinians from Salfit in the northern West Bank.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,554 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons.
