PLO: Time for international community to provide protection to Palestinians

Dec. 14, 2018 10:27 A.M. (Updated: Dec. 14, 2018 12:57 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Azzam al-Ahmad, member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, said that the leadership has reached several regional and international stakeholders “to put an end to the escalated violence by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank,” on Thursday.

Al-Ahmad spoke to Voice of Palestine radio and stressed, "The time has come for the international community to shoulder its responsibility to provide protection to our people from the (Israeli) violations, which include field executions of Palestinian citizens and incitement (by Israeli settlers) to kill President Mahmoud Abbas.”

He added "this incitement was met with international condemnation," noting that the Palestinian people "will not stand idly, but will confront the Israeli occupation until they fulfill their rights."

Earlier this week, Israeli extremist groups hung posters of Abbas at the Huwwara crossroads, in southern Nablus, calling for him a “supporter of terrorists” and calling for his assassination.
