Minors among 9 detained by Israeli forces

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least nine Palestinians, mostly minors, on predawn Sunday, across the occupied West Bank.

According to Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), Israeli forces detained five Palestinian minors in the southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem. They were identified as Amer Khaled Taqatqa, 13, Mahmoud Ibrahim Taqatqa, 14, Hisham Maher Marshoud Taqatqa, 13, Muhammad Yahya Thawabta, 16, and Ayham Ghassan Thawabta, 17.

In the central West Bank district of Jerusalem, in the Silwan neighborhood, Israeli forces detained the Palestinian Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith.

In the northern West Bank district of Qalqiliya, two Palestinians were detained. PPS identified them as Ibrahim Mansour and Daoud Mansour.

In the northern West Bank district of Jenin, one detained and identified as Muhammad Salman Nassar.

Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,580 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 250 are child prisoners and 35 are under the age of 16 years.
