3 Palestinians injured in Israeli airstrike targeting Hamas military site

Dec. 13, 2017 1:08 P.M. (Updated: Dec. 14, 2017 3:48 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli air forces conducted airstrikes targeting alleged Hamas military sites in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday before dawn, injuring three Palestinians.

Locals told Ma’an that three Palestinians were injured after an Israeli airstrike hit two training sites for the Izz al-din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement.

One of the sites was reportedly a naval site.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed the airstrikes to Ma’an, while Israeli media reported that the airstrikes were in response to rockets fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel on Tuesday.

Two Palestinian fighters were killed on Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip. The fighters were the sixth Palestinians to have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza over the past week.

On Saturday, two members of Hamas’ military wing had been killed in an airstrike, while two Palestinian civilians had been killed by Israeli forces on Friday during clashes along the border.

Since US President Donald Trump’s announcement last week recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, tensions have risen across the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, with clashes, injuries, and arrests every single day.
