BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Two Palestinians with Israeli citizenship were shot and killed Tuesday night in the city of Jaffa, located just south of Tel Aviv, according to an Israeli police spokesperson.

Police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said that an unknown gunman opened fire from a vehicle “at an Arab man and woman who were also in a vehicle,” leading to their death on Tuesday at midnight in Jaffa city.

Al-Samri said that the two were transferred to the hospital immediately after the shooting, where the unidentified Palestinian woman was declared dead on arrival, while the man, identified as Fares Nadi, 33, succumbed to his wounds later on. Nadi was a resident of the central Israeli city of Ramla.

Al-Samri said that Israeli police had opened an investigation into the shootings.
