CAIRO (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces launched an airstrike on al-Qarara in the Gaza Strip that killed three Palestinians on Friday afternoon in the middle of an "unofficial" ceasefire that was due to last until 8 p.m.

The deaths brought the total Palestinian death toll in the month-long assault to 1,898 with more than 9,825 injured.

Sources close to talks in Egypt had told Ma'an earlier Friday that an unofficial cessation to hostilities would be implemented until 8 p.m. as mediators attempt to reach an agreement between Palestinian and Israeli delegations.

Well placed sources in Cairo said that Palestinian and Israeli delegations had "agreed to almost all main points that need a solution" through indirect talks.

According to the sources, only "limited" disagreements remain and an agreement had been reached "on the majority of the subjects concerning the Palestinians."

The sources called for an end to military operations by both sides, but said negotiations could go on under fire until an agreement is reached.

Despite the apparently unofficial agreement, Israeli forces launched an airstrike on the village of al-Qarara Friday evening north of Khan Younis, killing Suleiman Abu Haddaf, Ahmad Abu Haddaf, and Mahmoud Abu Haddaf.

The deaths bring the total number of dead on Friday to five and more than 20 injured, as Israeli warplanes struck multiple targets across the Gaza Strip after a 72-hour ceasefire agreement ended at 8 a.m.

Just before the announcement of the unofficial ceasefire, Ahmad Naim Okal, 22, was killed in an airstrike.

Okal was killed during an Israeli air raid on the area of Musabbah in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Earlier, Israeli warplanes also launched three strikes on the home of the Suleiman family in Beit Lahiya, and three injured people were taken to the Kamal Adwan Hospital.

Just enough time to bury the martyred 10 year old who was killed this morning. إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ‎ (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un" - Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return"). Be patient for Allah loves those who are patient. May Allah accept our martyrs, give shifa (healing to the injured) & bring salem (peace) to this conflict.

It's odd that the Hamas military and political wings, ensconced in their respective bunkers far beneath the surface and the streets of Gaza. Are unable and cannot provide shelter, food, medical supplies, water, electricity, air raid shelter, sirens or fuel for her Arabs.

The IS has captured the hydroelectric dam on the Tigris River, which provides northern Iraq with power and is the largest in the country. Its failure could send a 65-foot wave across large areas of Iraq including a flood one meter deep in Baghdad. Also Thursday, Islamists overran 14 towns with Christian majorities in northern Iraq, putting tens of thousands to flight with an ultimatum: Convert to Islam or die. Church leaders have appealed for immediate help.

The International community must seize the moment to end the long Israeli occupation of Palestine. Two states with recognized boundaries, no settlements or apartheid wall.
Two states with full compensation to Palestine’s refugees on decades of pain, suffering and loss of properties.
Two states with open borders, free trade and movement.
It is the only way that justice can be served, human lives spared, healing will begin as hostilities end.

The Palestinians have understood that these rockets will achieve nothing. Palestinians have called on Hamas to stop firing on Israel and to try to negotiate with the Israeli occupation. But Hamas has never considered Palestinian needs – only its own political interests. And so they have continued to fire rockets at Israel, knowing full-well what the result would be: Hamas paved the road for the death of our people. We knew that Hamas was digging the tunnels that would lead to our destruction.

The Israel Defence Force has announced that they had killed 253 Hamas operatives, 147 Islamic Jihad operatives, 65 operatives of other organizations, and 603 operatives with unknown affiliation. They have stressed that the numbers are not final. Spokesman Captain Eytan Buchman told BBC that "the UN numbers being reported are, by and by large, based on the Gaza health ministry, a Hamas-run organization".

Will the Zionist blood-lust ever be sated? When will the United Nations and the international community cease its policy of appeasement? Don't they remember its consequences?

Since 2001, Palestinian militants such the Hamas’ military wing al-Qassam Brigades and other renegade radical Islamic Jihadist terrorist organisations, the al-Quds Brigades military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees and the al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades. have launched thousands of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip. Enough is enough.

One of the Koranic verses provided states that Allah gave the Holy Land to the sons of Israel until the Day of Judgment (Surah Al-Ma’ida, verse 21), and the other (Surah Al-Shara’a, verse 59) says that the land was bequeathed to the Jews. The sheikh turned to those who “distort the words of the Koran,” whom he labeled as liars, and questioned where they had even come up with the name “Palestine.” He insisted their claims to the Land of Israel were forfeit because “Allah is the protector of the C

@ 5 GAZA is not occupied. it gave gaza to the Palestinian people in 2007. the boundaries between Israel and gaza are CLEARLY defined. compensation as you call it should be given to refugees, when jewish refugees who were kicked out of arab countries after 1948 and fled to Israel is given. open borders?? no country can demand an open border with any other country. does the US have an open border with Canada? justice will be served and healing will begin, when hamas renounces their charter

Imagine if Hamas had paused the rockets, renounced it charter goal of destroying Israel and reached out to its neighbors with positive ideas for making life easier for Gazans, Israelis and Egyptians. None of this death, heartbreak and destruction would have happened. Instead, Hamas took a failed (more than once!) approach and made life infinitely worse for Gazans.

Mitri from CANADA - you should be ashamed adding oil to the fire. Just be realistic before posting. No one can compare terrorists with any human being, except the terrorists themselves. Like ISIS, BOKAHAM and AL QUADIA, HAM ASS is a terrorist group & is responsible for terrorizing millions of innocent civilian Israelis and for the killing of its own people using them as human shields.

Israel should face Hamas on the ground and fight it off with them and this is the only way Israel will take Hamas out if they want to accomplish their mission. Israel did face Hamas on their ground and they suffer casualties among their soldiers. Using airstrikes Israel will not accomplish what they started but will inflict more civilian casualties as usual. I guess Israel prefer to strike civilian targets in the hope to hit a Hamas and decrease the causalties of their men in combat.

Musleh, every country has the right to close its border if it so wishes. You cannot impose open borders on a sovereign country. You also cannot impose free trade on a sovereign country. It would be as if someone would force you to trade with me, like to sell me your house, if you don't want to sell.

Two people were injured in a barrage of 57 rockets fired by Hamas by Friday night – one a soldier and the Director of Sapir College, Dr. Nahmi Paz, 71, outside a Shearei Hanegev village. At exactly 8 a.m. Friday morning, the Palestinians renewed rocket fire against the Israeli population after a 72-hour pause which Hamas refused to extend. Twenty rockets were fired against Ashkelon and communities north and east of Gaza before 10 a.m

#3: they have tunnels, not underground hotels. And those tunnels are the only reason why there is now a negotiation about ending Israel's occupation of Gaza. Like Israel did not so long ago, the Palestinian people must obtain their freedom through fighting. #4: the Palestinian plight spreads over half a century, at the least, and if we do nothing now, it will continue until there's no more Palestinian land to speak of. #6: Are you comfy there in US? Palestinians in Gaza are not, for decades now.

22 ) Joe / US
09/08/2014 12:32
#7: Because Israel never lied before, right? About the 3 killed youth, about the captured soldier, about breaking the ceasefire etc. And these only in the last month. #9: thousands of rockets, yet they killed just a few people (3 in the last conflict). Yet, IDF pounds Gaza and kills indiscriminately (over 400 children by now!) #11: when Israel controls everything that goes in and out of Gaza, it's called occupation. Go on internet and read a bit before making such uninformed comments.

#12: Hamas didn't have rockets until recently, yet Israel oppressed the Palestinians and stole their land even before that. Hamas appeared as a resistance movement, as a response to Israel's aggression. #13: Israel kills and terrorizes Palestinians. What about that? #17: Where did that come from?! Stop dehumanizing and vilifying the Palestinians. They just want to be free, to have the basic human rights, things which Israel denies them. Wouldn't you fight for freedom if you had no other choice?!

End the blockade on gaza. End the occupation on Palestine. Go back to pre 1967 borders and stop the aggression. There would be no need for resistance fighters as there would be nothing to resist. Why did hamas fire rockets? Ppl we're being "detained" and rear rested in West Bank. Air strikes were launched. Palestine also has a right to defend itself. Odd how ppl side with a bully like IL that plays victims, while bragging about their military at the same time.
