RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Palestinian man near Ramallah on Monday afternoon, and a Palestinian security officer was also seriously hurt in the incident.
Witnesses told Ma'an they saw the man's body lying in a pool of blood near Jamal Abdul-Nasser Mosque in al-Bireh, and a gunman riddling him with bullets.
Palestinian preventive security officers arrived at the scene, and when one pulled out his handgun, an assailant immediately shot him in the neck.
The dead man was identified as Ahmad Sidqi Maali from the village of Deir Jarir north of Ramallah.
Local sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Ma'an the shooting was related to a two-year-old clash between two clans in the village. They said a traditional truce had been reached between the two families, which was expected to end the feuding.
Palestinian security said the officer, Muhammad Abu Libda, is in a serious condition.
Security forces are hunting for the gunmen, who fled the scene.
