CAIRO (Ma'an) -- PA prime minister Salam Fayyad on Sunday refused to comment on a Gaza official's offer to rescue the West Bank based economy from financial crisis.

Asked by a Ma'an correspondent as to his view on the offer, Fayyad laughed, saying "I refuse to comment, what do you want me to say in response?"

Deputy premier in Gaza Ziad al-Thatha said Friday that the "partially self-sufficient" Gaza Strip would come to the West Bank's aid.

The Gaza government split with the West Bank amid violent clashes in 2007.
