NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli settlers raided a northern West Bank village on Saturday for the second time this week, leading to clashes with local Palestinians, a PA official said.

Dozens of settlers from the illegal outpost of Esh Kodesh raided the Nablus village of Qusra, firing live ammunition into the air, settlement monitoring official Ghassan Daghlas told Ma'an.

Hundreds of Palestinians gathered in the area to defend the village, throwing stones at the settlers until they retreated.

No injuries were reported.

Israeli forces deployed heavily in the area and fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades at Palestinian villagers, Daghlas said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said "there is an ongoing confrontation between Palestinian and Israeli civilians near Esh Kodesh. IDF soldiers have arrived at the scene and are using riot dispersal means."

On Tuesday, dozens of settlers raided Qusra and uprooted more than 190 olive trees. Several residents of the village were assaulted, and homes and a tractor were also damaged in the raid.

Settler attacks on Palestinian communities and their property are systematic and rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

All Israeli settlements are considered illegal under international law.

So what exactly is Abbas's security forces for!? What on earth are you doing Abu Mazen!? What's the point of having a security force if your not going to use it?

put them in PA jail where armed terrorists like these belong !!!

How long before some of these wackos start shooting up a school. The Palestinian police need to disarm these roving illegals. Where is the Palestinian army when you need it? Every legal state should have one to support the civil authority at times of national emergency.

@WAS- these clashes happen in areas that the PA has no control over -- Area B and C. Abu Mazen has no control over what happens in these areas (OSLO 1994).

'An Israeli army spokeswoman said "there is an ongoing confrontation between Palestinian and Israeli civilians near Esh Kodesh. IDF soldiers have arrived at the scene and are using riot dispersal means."...' As the article notes, at the villagers.

Deputise every Palestinian citizen. Make everyone legally in Palestine part of the civil authority.

Abbas's security forces have NO authority outside of Areas A/B, which is likely where the "Nablus village" lies (e.g. Area C), and besides "near Shilo about 250 Arabs attacked Jews at Esh Kodesh, and injure 11 Jews, and damaged the Jewish vineyards" !!

Don't be so hard on them. They want peace. Nutty-Yahoo says.

Seems the nuts are escalating. Violent settlers are Israel's lab experiment gone horribly wrong. Recruited by the state, groomed for zeal for the dirty job of stealing Palestinian land on the Zionist frontier. Now marauding hooligans run amok. Think cult. Think KKK or Branch Davidians. Insane ideas, held with brainwashed fervour, indifferent to moral behaviour or anyone in their way. Nice. It's said a lot here, but never truer: the more extreme settler attacks become, the more appalling Zionism

(contd.) (in application) is revealed to be, hastening the implosion/self-destruction of the whole illegal settler movement. In 2013. Insha'Allah.

#1, #2 I agree, it would be interesting to add Palestinian Police to the mix. IDF soldiers at the scene employ "riot dispersal means", fire "tear gas canisters and stun grenades" at PALESTINIANS who are "throwing stones...to defend the village" from SETTLERS! They're not law and order. They're back-up. They hold the villagers at bay while the attackers get away. Palestinian police would see it differently and perhaps even attempt some arrests! It IS all in Area B. How the IDF would respond

settlers are the ones living in someone Else's country. They need to be deported !!!

Settlers have no PA state citizenship. PA needs to issue official Government citizenship ID cards to all recognised as legal citizens of the state of Palestine. Then enforce law of deportation against all illegals not holding valid IDs. Now that Palestine is recognised as a sovereign state they need to start acting like one. To hell with areas defined as A&B etc... state borders are defined by the GREEN LINE.

I was in the Mamila mall last week on a visit to Jerusalem, right across from the old city. As I passed the GAP, an orthodox Jewish couple strapping a huge automatic weapon walked by with a baby in a stroller towards the coffee shop. To give them credit, everyone else in the mall (which I'm assuming included some Israelis, not just tourists) looked shocked. Surreal.

14- Israelis have already accepted that "there will never be peace".
If Most Palestinians insist upon waiting for the "settlers to leave",
there will "never be":
-a- building permits issued to Palestinians in Area C, and
-b- prosperity for Palestinians in Gaza and Areas A/B,
with most Palestinians eventually accepting that
-c- "There will never be" a real Palestine, and
16- Today's Fantasies of "acting like" a real state are like
Past Fantasies of "Pushing Jews Into The Sea".

"Pushing Jews into the Sea" is a fantasy because it is racist. Statehood for Pals is no longer a fantasy but a reality. It would be a fantasy to think that Zs would try to cooperate in anyway. However, that is not necessary. International law to greenlnie must prevail or the whole world is lost again in war. It is Zs which caused all this problem by taking the land without authority, without Torah/Covenant leadership/government & with deception and violence. Fantasy is to think such is just.

#17 "I was in the Mamila mall...across from the old city. As I passed the GAP...(!)" The vulgar edifice of the Mamilla Mall, with it's fancy shops and appalling art, is pretty hilarious. A little slice of LA to remind people of home...and the best argument that Jews in Israel are an alien import, recent foreign arrivals, imposed on Arab land. (The gaudy claims of deep belonging and "return" to the ancient home are absurd in the context of the glitzy Mall: I mean THIS is the vision for Holy City?

(contd.) Oy vey!) Down the road, in EAST Jerusalem, whether elegant Sheikh Jarrah or poor, chaotic Silwan, you see people who belong...going about their business in their modest, scruffy, third world city. No wild claims of mystic bonds or entitlements, just clearly at home because they've never been anywhere else. People, who if they really need to shop at Gap, have to make the short (but profound) trip to the other side.

Lets wait and see how the secular government and court system of the Z state views these circumstances. will they, out of political "correctness", honor 'State of Palestine' issued citizenship IDs and passports? I think this will determine a lot about your claim to "fantasy".

23 ) @ Big_Mike-22 / 20 Years of Fantasy is Enough
09/01/2013 16:05
- Arabs have held onto the "wait and see fantasy," since 1967, and
- Palestinians have held onto the "wait and see fantasy," since 1993, but
- Israeli poll results* show that after elections this month, the next Israeli Government will have largely the same composition, and thus policies, and
support is slowly growing for Right-Religous parties, in future governments too, so A "WAIT & SEE FANTASY" IS FOOLISH.

* Right-Religous parties with 56%, Left-Center with 35%, & Arabs with 9%

Courts are run by the left and bibi will turn left after elections. he has in the past and he will again. Izrael can not afford to keep the Jonah of the settlers on board they will sink the ship.
