Israel rejects 'preconditions' for negotiations

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israel on Tuesday accused the Palestinian Authority of insisting on a settlement freeze before resuming talks as a way to avoid resuming the peace process.

"It seems that the Palestinian side is interested in the further development of preconditions. We reject this and are interested to negotiate without preconditions," said Ofir Gendelman, spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Earlier, the political adviser to President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated the position that negotiations would not resume without a freeze in settlement building on occupied Palestinian land.

During a meeting in Ramallah with British officials, Nimr Hammad said Israel's settlement construction was making a two-state solution impossible and that credible negotiations could not restart until Israel stopped building on Palestinian land.

Abbas' adviser added that the international community must mediate and arbitrate between Israel and Palestine, the official Wafa news agency reported.

Gendelman told Ma'an that settlement building was not an obstacle to talks and that international pressure should focus on urging Palestine, not Israel, to return to negotiations.

"Israel does not need international pressure to return to negotiations," Gendelman said. "We must put pressure on the Palestinian side, which refuses to recognize Israel and negotiate with it."

The PLO recognized Israel in 1993.

Europe's failure to vote against Palestine's bid to upgrade its status at the UN "encouraged" Palestinians to pursue unilateral steps, Gendelman said. The Czech republic was the only European country to vote against admitting Palestine as a non-member state of the UN.

Israel announced new settlement plans shortly after the UN General Assembly approved Palestine's status upgrade.

The European Union on Monday said it was "deeply dismayed by and strongly opposes Israeli plans to expand settlements," after a meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels.

Gendelman said the EU statement encouraged the Palestinians not to return to talks.

On Monday, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said the Palestinian Authority planned to launch a new six-month initiative to renew talks with Israel in January.

The initiative will demand an end to the occupation, the release of prisoners and a settlement freeze.

What Two-State Solution? Surely you guys haven't fallen for that BS Western idea. I only went along with it for the money! You'll be talking for the next 65 years...

5 ) Unilateral Actions / Suggested Response
11/12/2012 18:39
1- Israel gives Palestine recognized consolidated Areas A/B borders.
2- Israel Close these Border to all non-Israeli citizens, until Palestine recognizes Israel.
3- Israel ends all trade, import, export, across the border, except humanitarian needs.
4- Israel Informs Palestine that
-a- murder or genocide of Israeli citizens will not be tolerated, and
-b- Palestinians in Israel can be treated like Israelis in Palestine. And
5- Wait for Palestine’s response.

6 ) Two Homelands / One Option
11/12/2012 18:46
1- Pals have no homeland except Palestine, and
2- Jews have no homeland except Israel, and
since the TWO HOMELANDS exist on the SAME LAND,
and sharing seems NOT to be an option, so just like birds,
the strongest should push the other from the "nest" !!!

Hamas has not recognized Israel's right to exist, and according to the Palestinian people during the last democratic elections 6.5 years ago, Hamas controls the PA with a parlimentary majority and Haniyeh is the legal PM, not Fayaad, as substantiated by the PLC. Mr. Gendelman is 100% correct. So, unify if you can, create a common platform, and negotiate an enforeable peace agreement with Israel. Everything else is just rhetoric, and Palestinian/Israeli children have suffured enough.

"which refuses to recognize Israel" <----Palestinians have already recognized Israel many years ago. It's the Israelis who refuse to recognize Palestine. They won't even refer to Palestinian land as Palestine, instead they call it "Judea and Samaria" or "Eretz Israel." Ask any Israeli to draw a map of Israel for you. They'll draw the entire area including the West Bank and Gaza. And by the way, Mr. Netanyahu, asking Palestinians to recognize a "Jewish State" IS A PRE-CONDITION.

What preconditions? More Bibi BS. The Palestinians don't have any conditions to resume negotiations. It's time for Israel to drop its conditions that obstruct peace in the ME. It’s about Israel and its settlements, incursions and assassinations. It's not a Palestinian condition. It's an Israeli commitment from Oslo, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Roadmap that Israel obligated itself to uphold and respect.

10 ) @ Rami-8 / Names & Recognition
12/12/2012 16:02
-a- ISRAELIS prefer to use the previous names "Judea & Samaria,"
JUST LIKE PALESTINIANS prefer to use the previous names "Al Qods
& Al Khalil", instead of Jerusalem and Hebron.
-b- The State of ISRAEL absolutely DOES "recognize Palestinian land,"
when there exists a legaly registered deed of ownership, and like me
-c- ISRAEL probably DOES "recognize PALESTINE", as A non-member observer STATE ON THE PAPER OF UN RESOLUTIONS, which never previously existed with lands or sovereignty !!!

11 ) Is that really you / Or some other Jew?

8) "Palestinians have already recognized Israel many years ago"

Yes, but they changed their hair style recently, and Pals have stopped saying hello.

International Law - WB,Gaza & Golan are under military occupation, impermissible to acquire territory via war, ONLY legal annexation (referendum of affected population). '48 Declaration of Independence acknowledged & accepted UNGAR 181 Partition borders. Anything & everything outside of the original Partition is not legally Israeli sovereign territory. It is not required by law to recognise the religion of another nation - this is just a ploy.

It's not the"pre-conditions" Israel"rejects".It's ANY negotiation,at all, which facilitates a FREE,self-determined Arab Palestine back on its OWN stolen land, using its own stolen resources, with an ARAB majority population, which would NEGATE the ruse, that "facts on the ground"&"natural growth"is"Jewish" when there's actually NO PROOF,EVIDENCE that the(white Ashkenazi)Jewish-Zionist population is'growing' ergo Jewish-only COLONIES aren't a necessity.Just an APARTHEID LUST,4 the WHOLE Arab 'PIECE'!

Netanyahu has his own pre-conditions - they are written in the Likud charter. When h speaks of "no pre-conditions" is he saying he repudiates his own charter? # 10 - Israel is always demolishing Palestinian homes even where there is a deed of ownership. Israel is the one making the rules as to interpretation of ownership - look at the (generic) abandoned lands acts Israel set up in 1948/9 to see what cunning tricks they have to define "abandoned". Palestinians always lose out on that one.

#10 Hebron is the jewish name. Al Khalil is the Arabic name. It might actually shock you but words sound differently in other languages. Are you also going to say that we don't recognize God's existence because we call him Allah? Second of all, Israel has never recognized Palestinian land whether or not a land deed exists. There are plenty of land deeds in the hands of Palestinians whose lands are sitting under any one of dozens of Settlements in the West Bank right now.

A neighbour keeps stealing my chickens in full view of witnesses. He offers to try to resolve the situation using independent negotiators but before the first meeting he steals another chicken. I object and tell him to stop taking my chickens. I will not become involved in any negotiations until the chickens I have left are safe from theft. My neighbour states that there can be no pre-conditions to negotiations. He says he will build a wall to protect my chickens but I'll lose half my land...

All the land belongs to us. It was ours continuously for 400 years until those nasty Brits disenfranchised us. Would someone tell the UN we want it back please.

I have a neighbor And he keeps saying he is going to kill all of my chickens as soon as he has the chance. Occasionally he sends explosive and kills some, so finally I was forced to build a fence around my chickens - and my neighbor, the one who wants to kill my chickens, well I'd like to talk to him, but until he stops telling everyone how he wants to kill my chickens, I'll just keep my fence. he's actually lucky that the next time he talks about killing my chickens, I don't come kick his arse
