GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Airstrikes continue to rock the Gaza Strip, killing three men on Saturday, raising to 15 the number of Palestinians killed since Israel assassinated a military leader 24 hours earlier.

A further 26 Palestinians have been injured in the strikes, five of whom are in a serious condition, Gaza medical services spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya said.

The latest deadly attack killed Mahdi Abu Shawish, 24, and injured three others when it targeted a motorcycle near Rabia Al-Adawiya school in southern city Rafah, medics told Ma'an.

Abu Shawish was affiliated to the Popular Resistance Committees' armed wing, whose chief was killed on Friday, a Ma'an reporter said.

The Al-Nasser Saladin brigades said an airstrike later Saturday on northern Beit Hanoun injured another of its fighters.

Earlier in the day, a drone fired on a motorcycle strike east of Khan Younis killing two men, Abu Salmiya said.

The body of Hussein Barham Al-Breim, 51, was transferred to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Abu Salmiya said. Mansour Kamal Abu Nuseira, 20, was taken to European Hospital, where he later died.

Also on Saturday, Israeli warplanes bombed a Al-Qassam brigades militant site in western Gaza City neighborhood Abraj Al-Maqousi, injuring three men who were transferred to al-Shifa hospital.

The site was entirely flattened, shattering windows in nearby apartments, witnesses said.

Witnesses said that the location was completely destroyed and it also resulted in breaking the windows of the apartments near the main location.

Israel's army said in a statement that the strike on Khan Younis "thwarted a terrorist squad from firing a rocket at Israel from the southern Gaza Strip. Direct hits were identified."

The statement continued: "The IDF is prepared to defend the residents of Israel and will respond with strength and determination against any attempt to execute terrorist attacks."

The army said later strikes on Rafah and Gaza City "targeted two terror activity sites ... in response to the rockets fired at Israel." A spokeswoman said she was not aware of the later strike on Beit Hanoun.

Israel's military said earlier that about 90 rockets had been fired toward Israeli territory at the weekend, injuring four people including one seriously in southern Israel, while eight others were treated for shock.

Islamic Jihad’s military wing said 10 of its fighters have died since Friday. The Al-Quds Brigades launched 41 Grad missiles, 20 projectiles, six mortar shells, and three 107-mm rockets, it said.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a statement Saturday that the movement holds Israel "fully responsible for the escalation and its results," calling on Egypt to intervene to end the suffering in Gaza.

The Palestinian people have a right to defend themselves against aggression, he said.

Medical official Abu Salmiya called on international organizations and human rights bodies to fulfill their commitment to halt bloodshed in Gaza, in violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

After the severe medical and electricity shortages in Gaza, the military operations on the Gaza Strip require urgent intervention to save Gaza from a humanitarian catastrophe, Salmiya said.

Sad but true !!!!!! It looks like the racist, barbarian Zionists take advantage of the GASA as a test store for the Iron Dome system supplied by the Americans last month.May prove to be found in the Zionist media.GASA is used as a test field.another reason is the last week, Obama has forced them not to attack Iran. And because the are blood thirsty they must attack anyone,GASA.Its makes me sad, so many innocent people who died today. My heart is with all GASENS. You have the right of self defense.

Why doesn't the Hamas police have crime scene tape to keep swarms of idly curious people away from destroyed cars and motorcycles?

Note that yesterdays IDF attack on the PRC leader came after two rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza. And the escalation came from Gaza, since 9 other rockets and mortars were fired at Israel from March 1 up to Friday morning. We want peace with our Palestinian neighbors. We are not stupid - there is no "ceasefire" or "lull". There has been constant rocket and mortar fire for the past year. Shooting rockets at Israeli civilians is not "resistance" and it is not legitimate. It is a war crime.

The death toll from Israel strikes is tragic. However, the story is repetitive.Palestinians planning to attack Israel are killed by drones, etc. Retaliation occurs. More Israeli strikes, more Palestinians killed.Whether there was actual planning or not is inconsequential to my main point. The end result is Palestinians suffer more when retaliation takes place. So why retaliate? Wouldn't it be much more productive if non-violent demonstrations replaced impotent rockets?

I agree with you, "It makes me sad, so many people who died today", but most were NOT "innocent", and there would have been NO Israeli strikes, if NOT for the dozens of rockets Gaza fired at Israel first !!! At best, YOU ARE IGNORANT of the Truth (the Iron Dome is a defensive system, and it does NO harm to Gaza what so ever), or YOU JUST HATE that Gaza can not murder and terrorize Israeli civilians very effectively, or worse YOU ARE BOTH IGNORANT AND FILLED WITH HATE.

Brian Cohen #4 'We want peace with our Palestinian neighbors. We are not stupid' Neither are we. It's obvious -- to say the least -- that you've returned to killing Pals now that you've realized there's no way you're going to get permission to kill Iranians. I FIGURED this would happen. I never thought you'd be so blatant about it. A week or two, a staged 'terrorist attack' -- something. Leaving aside your other flaws, you guys are pretty crude.

Why don't you print your hate somewhere else? It should be a sad day when young men die, but the time for crying was a long time ago, when these young men dedicated their lives to terrorism and to the murder of Jewish civilians. And now, following their deaths, the people on both sides of the border will be safer !!!

If the Gazans stop igniting their missels toward the Israelites, things woud be quiet on that border. I understand their anger, but common sense should dictate their judgment.

Parenthetically, it's interesting to note that Israel can kill almost all adult male militants when it wants to. Where are all the women and children who were usually killed and only died because they were being used as 'human shields'? Maybe Islamic Jihad has had a sudden access of morality? Israel's taken marksmanship classes? Or is it just that for whatever reason, the word has gone out: no women/children/sixty year olds for now?

To roshan hill #14 'You are occupiers not defenders - your ancestor left your homelands centuries ago...' Even that's almost certainly not true. It's striking how Zionist propaganda is so pervasive that even its opponents wind up unconsciously regurgitating it.

11/03/2012 03:27
THANK YOU for admitting, that in this round of fighting, that Israel is only targeting "adult male militants." Unfortunately, we all know that: 1- "Islamic Jihad has NOT had a sudden access of morality", 2- they continue to target Israeli civilians, and 3- if they just fire enough rockets, eventually one will hit an Israeli civilian population center again, and "The Gloves Will Come Off", and the fighting will get messy !!!

BLA.BLA.BLA The Parsit and the hosts !!!!!!!!!!!!!! @-11/ without Israel, the whole Middle east and the world will be safer The terrorists are the Zionists in Israel. Not in the Palestinians territories, in Gaza. Since the country was established , it prevails in the middle east WAR. The need war.the big number of weapons and bomb from America must to be tested.

#4 "Shooting rockets at Israeli civilians is not "resistance" and it is not legitimate. It is a war crime." I agree with you Brian about rocket fire from Gaza and it should stop but suspect your concern about what is legitimate and what is criminal may be selective. Israel's occupatiion of East Jerusalem and the West Bank ie. territories acquired by war and the settling of civilian populations in them is also a crime under GCIV!
