Egyptian authorities release 4 Palestinian fishermen

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Egyptian authorities released, on Sunday evening, four Palestinian fishermen who were detained while fishing off the coast of Rafah, south of the besieged Gaza Strip bordering Egypt, last week.

A security source at the Rafah border crossing confirmed that the Egyptian authorities released four fishermen identified as Sahib Abu Suleima, Khaled Kanaan, Raafat Kanaan, and Musaab Kanaan.

Their release came after intensive talks between the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza and the Egyptian security delegation.

Earlier last week, Egyptian naval forces entered 300 meters into Palestinian waters and attacked a fishing boat with five Palestinian fishermen aboard.

One fisherman was injured during the attack and managed to flee the area, however, the remaining four were immediately detained.
