Israel to demolish 4 greenhouses near Bethlehem

March 7, 2019 3:12 P.M. (Updated: March 7, 2019 4:19 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces delivered demolition notices to four Palestinian greenhouses in the Shushahla village near al-Khader town in the southern occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, on Thursday.

Locals identified the four greenhouses as belonging to Ali Mahmoud Salah, Munther Salah, Moussa Ahmad Salah and Habbas Khalil Salah.

Sources added that the demolition notices stated the structure under the pretext that they were not licensed.

Israeli forces had sealed the road leading to the village several months ago, preventing locals from staying in their lands after 5:00 p.m.

Israel uses the pretext of building without a permit to carry out demolitions of Palestinian-owned homes on a regular basis.

Nearly all Palestinian applications for building permits in Area C are denied by the Israeli authorities, forcing communities to build illegally.

Meanwhile, the estimated 550,000 Jewish Israeli settlers in the occupied Palestinian territory are more easily given building permits and allowed to expand their homes and properties, despite living in settlements that violate international law.
