Israeli forces open fire at farmers, shepherds across Gaza

Feb. 14, 2019 10:30 A.M. (Updated: Feb. 14, 2019 12:11 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces opened fire towards Palestinian farmers, shepherds, and fishing boats, on Thursday morning, in the besieged Gaza Strip.

A Ma'an reporter said that Israeli naval forces targeted the central and eastern borders of Gaza.

Sources added that Israeli forces opened fire towards agricultural lands and homes of Palestinian farmer and shepherds, east of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, and in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.

No injuries were reported.

The Israeli army also regularly detains and opens fire on unarmed Palestinian fishermen, shepherds, and farmers along the border areas if they approach the buffer zone, as the authorities have not made clear the precise area of the designated zone.

The practice has in effect destroyed much of the agricultural and fishing sector of the blockaded coastal enclave, which has been under an Israeli air, land, and sea blockade for nearly 12 years.
