In video - Israel detains Palestinian groom, 20 of his guests

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian former prisoner, on predawn Saturday, after ambushing him in occupied East Jerusalem in the central West Bank.

Sources told Ma'an that Israeli forces ambushed former prisoner Rami al-Fakhouri in the Wadi al-Juz neighborhood of the city.

Witnesses said that Israeli soldiers and intelligence forces were deployed in the neighborhood for more than an hour-and-a-half before detaining al-Fakhouri.

Al-Fakhouri got married to the daughter of a killed Palestinian, Musbah Abu Sbeih whose body is still withheld by the Israeli authorities, three weeks ago.

Israeli forces detained al-Fakhouri, his father and more than 22 Palestinian youths who had attended the wedding, and summoned others for interrogation on charges of "taking part in a wedding during which flags of the Hamas movement were waved and terrorists were hailed."

The wedding party had taken place in the al-Eizariya town east of Jerusalem.

An Israeli TV Channel had broadcasted footage of al-Fakhouri's wedding party, directly inciting against him and the guests of his wedding.

The TV also referred to the attack that Abu Sbeih, the bride's father, had carried out in Jerusalem City, and in which he was killed by Israeli forces.

The detainees' lawyer, Khalid Zabarqa, told Ma'an that several of the detainees were released while the detention of others was extended.

The video below was published by the Israeli police, showing the detention raid:
