Trump to name former Fox News anchor as UN envoy

WASHINGTON (Ma'an) -- The United States President Donald Trump plans to nominate the State Department spokesperson, Heather Nauert, as the next United Nations ambassador.

According to Reuters, Trump is expected to post a tweet naming Nauert as the next UN ambassador, replacing the outgoing Nikki Haley, who announced her resignation in October.

Nauert, whose nomination would require Senate approval, is a former Fox News Channel correspondent and anchor.

She would take the position with no prior policy-making or political experience.

Nauert became the state department spokesperson in April 2017 and was named the acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs in 2018.
