Israeli forces close Beit El checkpoint in both directions

Nov. 27, 2018 11:33 A.M. (Updated: Nov. 27, 2018 12:28 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces closed the Beit El "DCO" military checkpoint in the northern part of the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah in both directions, on Monday.

The checkpoint was closed to Palestinian traffic passing through in both directions due to a suspicious object on the road between the illegal Israeli settlements of Beit El and Psagot.

Israeli forces blew up the suspicious object.

Locals told Ma'an that a loud explosion was heard from the area.

Palestinian communities are routinely subjected to arbitrary road closures by Israeli military forces for purported "security reasons," an act which rights groups have denounced as amounting to collective punishment.
