Israel to demolish 3 Palestinian homes in Yatta

Nov. 27, 2018 11:01 A.M. (Updated: Nov. 29, 2018 11:34 A.M.)
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces delivered demolition notices, on Monday evening, to three Palestinian homes and a shed in al-Khalidiya area, southeast of Yatta City, in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron.

Ratib al-Jabour, coordinator of a local committee that resists settlement activity, said that Israeli forces delivered demolition notices to three homes and a shed, which is used as an animal shelter.

Al-Jabour mentioned that the homes belong to three brothers, who were identified as Mahmoud, Muhammad, and Khalil Issa Rubei.

Al-Jabour stressed, “The measures carried out by Israeli authorities aim at taking over the land for the benefit of Israeli settlement expansion in the southern areas of the Hebron district.”

He called on Palestinians to remain steadfast and face such attempts by the Israeli authorities, who seek to take over their land.

In Area C, the more than 60 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli security and civilian control, Palestinian construction and land management is prohibited unless through consent or authorization by the Israeli Civil Administration.

Nearly all Palestinian applications for building permits in Area C are denied by the Israeli authorities, forcing communities to build illegally.

According to UN documentation, 229 Palestinian-owned structures have been demolished thus far in 2017 in Area C, which has displaced 298 Palestinians. In 2016, the UN recorded 1,065 demolitions across the occupied Palestinian territory.
