RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces closed the DCO military checkpoint in the northern part of the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh in both directions, late Wednesday night.

Locals confirmed that Israeli forces sealed off the checkpoint of al-Bireh City, preventing passage in both directions.

Sources added that Israeli forces sealed off the area as part of the search for suspects, who had opened fire at an Israeli settler bus passing by near the city.
Palestinian communities are routinely subjected to arbitrary road closures by Israeli military forces for purported "security reasons," an act which rights groups have denounced as amounting to collective punishment.
