Israel to demolish Palestinian home as punishment

Oct. 8, 2018 5:10 P.M. (Updated: Oct. 10, 2018 11:54 A.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces, along with Israeli army engineers, raided the Naawla family home, on Monday, in the Shweika village in northern occupied West Bank district of Tulkarem.

Hebrew-language news outlets reported that Israeli forces escorting army engineers raided the Shweika village and inspected the house belonging to Ashraf Walid Naawla, 23, who carried out a shooting attack in the Barkan industrial area, in the northern occupied West Bank, in which two Israeli settlers died and another sustained serious injuries.

Israeli forces took measurements of the house in preparation to demolish it, and conducted interrogations with Naawla's family members.

Sources added that one Palestinian, whose identity remained unknown, was detained by Israeli forces as he was suspected of assisting Naawla in the shooting attack.

Israeli forces and police continued to search the premises and the northern West Bank for Naawla.

Israel always demolishes family homes of Palestinians, who were involved in attacking Israelis as part of its collective punishment policy against the Palestinian people.

Israel has come under harsh condemnation over the past several years for its response to attacks committed by Palestinians on Israelis, which rights groups have said amounted to "collective punishment" on family members and entire communities in a clear violation of international law.
