Israeli media: Palestinian child attempts to stab soldier

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian boy reportedly attempted to carry out a stabbing attack against Israeli soldiers deployed at the Beit Horon checkpoint in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah, on Thursday.

Israeli Hebrew-language news outlets reported that an 8-year-old Palestinian boy threw a knife towards Israeli soldiers at Route 443, between Jerusalem attempted attack occurred at a checkpoint near to Route 443.

The child then fled the area; no injuries were reported.

Israeli forces are searching the area for the boy.

In 2015, Israeli forces have detained scores of Palestinians, many of them minors, for allegedly being in possession of knives following a spate of alleged and actual small-scale knife attacks by Palestinians that surged in the fall of 2015.

Eyewitnesses have also said in a number of cases that Israeli security forces planted knives on slain or imprisoned Palestinians to claim that they were acting in self-defense during a stabbing attack.
