JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces assaulted a number of Jerusalemites, on Monday evening, leading to several various injuries, near Damascus Gate in occupied East Jerusalem.

A Ma'an reporter said that Israeli forces surrounded a group of Palestinian youths who were present at Damascus Gate's square, and began to assault the youths by pushing, kicking and beating them.

According to reports, verbal confrontations broke out between youths and Israeli forces, leading to Israeli forces spraying pepper-spray at the youths, which resulted in severe burns in their faces.

Locals said that the youths suffered bruising, burns and suffocation due to the assault.

Israeli forces chased the youths outside the square towards the al-Musrara Street, detaining two.

The two detainees were identified as Izz al-Din Barbar and Mustafa al-Hashlamon.
