Sept. 28, 2018 3:00 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 28, 2018 3:00 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The world's "most expensive" pair of shoes worth $17 million were launched at the Burj Al Arab luxury hotel in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday.

According to an UAE news outlet, the Passion Diamond Shoes, worth 62.4 million dirham ($17 million), feature hundreds of diamonds, together with two imposing D-flawless diamonds of 15 carats each.

The luxury pair of shoes, made from diamonds and real gold, was designed and created over a period of nine months.

The report claimed that the shoes are currently the world's "most expensive," as previously, Debbie Wingham high heels were considered the most expensive footwear with a price tag of $15.1 million.

Maria Majari, the co-founder and creative director of Jada Dubai, who designed the shoes, said "Jada Dubai designs only shoes with diamonds. For the launch of our second collection, we wanted to create a piece that is truly unique in the world using very rare diamonds."

Majari added "There will be only one pair of The Passion Diamond Shoes in the world," and that the shoes will be made for a specific size of the customer that will actually purchase the Passion Diamond Shoes.
