In video - Israel punitively demolishes home of killed Palestinian

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces demolished the family home of killed 17-year-old Palestinian, Muhammad Tareq Ibrahim Dar Youssef, in the Kobar village, in the central occupied West Bank Ramallah district, on predawn Tuesday.

Locals said that dozens of Israeli forces, along with 20 military vehicles and a large bulldozer, stormed the Kobar village, demolished the Dar Youssef family home, razed and leveled it to the ground.

Sources added that a drone was seen flying overhead while Israeli forces carried out the demolition.

Clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian residents of the village following the demolition.

Additionally, Israeli forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear-gas bombs along with sound canisters towards residents.

The demolition comes under Israel's collective punishment policy for the actions of the family's 17-year-old killed son, who carried out a stabbing attack in July in the illegal Israeli Adam settlement, in which one Israeli settler was killed and two others suffered light to moderate injuries.

Punitive home demolitions are a collective punishment policy, which Israel has always implemented against relatives of Palestinians who were involved in attacks against Israelis.

However, the use of such a policy only against Palestinians and not against Israelis, who have committed attacks or hate crimes against Palestinians, has only fueled more anger against the decades-long Israeli occupation.

Israel has come under harsh condemnation over the past several years for its response to attacks committed by Palestinians on Israelis, which rights groups have said amounted to "collective punishment" on family members and entire communities in a clear violation of international law.
