JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- The Iraqi national football team arrived into Ramallah City in the central West Bank on Friday for a friendly match with the Palestinian team on Saturday evening.

The team entered Palestinian through Jordan and via the Allenby Bridge (Jordan's King Hussein Bridge) border crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan.

This is the Iraqi team's first ever visit to Palestine.

The Palestinian Football Union said that Issam al-Qaddumi, the secretary-general of the Palestinian Higher Council for Youth and Sports was among several Palestinian officials who welcomed the Iraqi team into Palestine.

The team was welcomed by al-Qaddumi, expressing that it is an honor to have the Iraqi team in Palestine and pointing out the "warm welcoming" that the Palestinian team had received when they faced the Iraqi team back in May in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.
