Israeli forces turn Bethlehem-area house into military post

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces occupied an under-construction Palestinian house in the al-Khader village in the southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem on Wednesday turning it into a military post.

Ahmad Salah, coordinator of a local popular committee against the separation wall and settlements in al-Khader, said that Israeli forces stormed the village and raided a house belonging to Youssef Abed Moussa.

Israeli forces were deployed on the rooftop of the house turning it into a military surveillance post.

Salah added that Israeli forces had previously informed Moussa to stop the construction of his home under the pretext of building without the difficult-to-obtain Israeli building permits.

Nearly all Palestinian applications for building permits in Area C, the more than 60 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli civilian and security control, are denied by the Israeli authorities, forcing communities to build their homes illegally.

Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have advanced construction plans for illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank at an alarming rate.
