Israeli forces demolish pool in Jordan Valley

July 4, 2018 5:24 P.M. (Updated: July 5, 2018 11:23 A.M.)
JORDAN VALLEY (Ma'an) -- Israeli bulldozers demolished a pool used for gathering water in the northern Jordan Valley, east of the occupied northern West Bank, on Wednesday afternoon.

Activist Aaref Daraghmeh said that the pool was built by supporting institutions in the al-Farsiya area of the Jordan Valley for residents to use as drinking water and for their cattle due to the lack of water in the area after the Israeli authorities had confiscated water wells for nearby settlements’ use.

Daraghmeh pointed out that the pool was built in October 2016 and given a demolition notice in November of the same year under the pretext of lacking a building license.

The Jordan Valley forms a third of the occupied West Bank, with 88 percent of its land classified as Area C -- under full Israeli military control.
