GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Palestinian medics and journalists were among the thousands of injured and tens of slain Palestinians on Monday in the besieged Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

The ministry of health said in a statement that one medic of the Palestinian Civil Defense teams was among the 37 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces.

Another medic was injured by live ammunition. Their condition remained unknown.

Additionally, at least 11 Palestinian journalists were treated for injuries related to tear gas.

Over 1,500 Palestinians have sustained injuries by israeli live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas, according to the ministry.

Thousands of Palestinians took to the Israeli border fence in eastern Gaza on Monday, in ongoing “Great March of Return” protests.

Protesters demonstrated against the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem on Monday, and ahead of May 15, the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, or catastrophe, when over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homelands with the creation of the state of Israel.
