21 Palestinians detained in overnight raids

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 21 Palestinians from across the occupied West Bank in overnight raids between Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS said in a statement that Israeli forces detained seven Palestinians from the Ramallah and al-Bireh district in the central West Bank.

They were identified as Ahmad Ahed Awwad, Rafat Anwar Awwad, Walid Zuheir Taha, Nazih Hamed, Muhammad Fares Hamed, Usayd Hamdan and Ahmad Fares al-Khatib.

Six Palestinians were detained from Jerusalem, and identified by PPS as Ahmad Dahbour, 15, Alaa Ajluni, 14, Muhammad Basem Hijazi, 14, Muhammad Tuffaha, 19, Hamzeh Hisham Abu Abseh and Muhammad Hasan Hilweh.

Israeli forces also detained two Palestinians from the Hebron district in the southern West Bank. They were identified as Abdullah Ubeido and Muhammad Ibrahim al-Fakhouri.

Also in the southern West Bank, Israeli forces detained Mohammad Khader Moussa Salameh and his brother Bilal from the al-Saff Street in Bethlehem City.

Meanwhile in the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained Ahmad Qunbu and Salah Jaradat from Jenin, Ahmad Jamal Qawwas, 26, from Qalqiliya and Ahmad Rayeq Zakarneh from Jericho.

Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to UN documentation, between December 19th and January 1st, Israeli forces carried out 170 search and arrest operations in the West Bank.
