Nov. 2, 2017 3:55 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 3, 2017 3:42 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 17 Palestinians during overnight raids in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to Palestinian and Israeli sources.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement that Israeli forces raided the city of Tubas in the northern West Bank and detained four Palestinians after breaking into and searching their homes.

In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces detained two Palestinian minors from the Jabal al-Tur neighborhood, according to PPS.

Meanwhile, PPS reported that in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians.

Local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awad told Ma’an that dozens of Israeli soldiers raided the town of Beit Ummar on Thursday before dawn, and arrested four former prisoners.

Awad identified them as Saif Kassab Abu Dayyeh, 23, his brother Muhammad, 20, Ahmad Rifaat al-Sleibi, 19, and Anwar Youssef Awad, 23. They were all reportedly transferred to the Gush Etzion detention center north of the town.

Awad added that 72 Palestinians from Beit Ummar have been detained by Israeli forces since June 6th, 2017, half of whom, he said, were minors.

Locals in the Yatta town told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained university student Anas Jamal al-Hreini after raiding and searching his house.

Hasan Yousif Madi, also a university student, was detained during raids in the al-Arroub refugee camp, according to local sources.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided Hebron city where they detained Fadel Irfaiyeh and his son Mutaz.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that 15 Palestinians were detained from the West Bank alone. An Israeli police spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment on the two detentions in East Jerusalem.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to United Nations documentation, Israeli forces conducted 196 search and arrest operations across the West Bank, including nine children, between October 10 and October 23.
