PA police: 3 brothers in Bethlehem confess to murdering their father

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Three young men from Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank confessed that they have murdered their own father, according to Palestinian police .

Relatives of the deceased man, Yousif Abu Omar, initially told doctors at a Bethlehem city hospital that he was killed in a car accident in the Khalayil al-Louz neighborhood, according to police spokesman Luay Irzeiqat.

A coroner who examined Abu Omar's remains later noticed burn marks on the body, as traffic homicide investigators meanwhile examined the vehicle and determined the car had caught fire.

Police then questioned three of the victim's sons, and after 12 hours of interrogations they allegedly confessed that they murdered their father, Irzeiqat said.

The sons said a dispute broke out between them and their father and that one of them pushed the man, who fell to the ground and lost consciousness. The three said they then moved their father in a car to Khalayil al-Louz area where they set the car ablaze in an attempt to cover up the murder.
