BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 12 Palestinians in multiple predawn raids carried out across the occupied West Bank on Monday.

According to a statement from the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS), Israeli forces detained four Palestinians from the Ramallah district in the central occupied West Bank, identifying them as Muhammad Majid Khalaf, Ali Ahmad Makhlouf, Abdullah Muhammad Zahran, and Nimir Ali Hamid.

In Jerusalem district, the statement added, Israeli forces detained Muhammad Abu Tayih, Imad Addin al-Abbasi, and Huthayfa Hamadah.

An Israeli army spokesperson only confirmed three detentions in the central West Bank, in the Ramallah-area villages of Deir Abu Mashal, al-Jalazun refugee camp, and the town of Silwad.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces detained 15-year-old Adam Muhammad Darwish and 22-year-old Farouq Mamoon Bdeir from Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem district, PPS said. The Israeli army only confirmed one detention in Aida.

The Israeli army spokesperson also said one Palestinian was detained in the town of Surif north of Hebron in the southern West Bank.

In Jenin district in the northern occupied West Bank, Israeli forces detained Abd al-Jabbar Abu Salah from the town of Arraba and Wisam Walid Ghawadra from Deir al-Basha village, according to PPS, with both of the detentions being confirmed by the Israeli army spokesperson.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 85 search and detention raids carried thus far in 2017, according to UN documentation.
