Palestinian leadership condemns attack in Barcelona that left 13 dead

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas presented his condolences to the King of Spain Felipe VI and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy for the victims of a vehicular attack that was carried out in Barcelona on Thursday that left 13 people dead and dozens injured.

According to official Palestinian Authority (PA) Wafa news Agency, Abbas condemned the attack in a message, stressing that his rejection“ all forms of terrorism” and “the importance of fighting back all terrorist groups in the world.”

Abbas declared that Palestine, its leadership, government and people are in solidarity with and support Spain against such attacks.

Executive Committee Member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Dr. Hanan Ashrawi also released a statement condemning the attack, saying “we are saddened and appalled by such cruel and tragic events, and our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies go out to the victims, their families and the government and people of Spain.”

“We, the Palestinians, condemn all forms of extremism, violence and terror against innocent civilians, and we call on all governments and people of conscience around the world to work together to counter such inhuman acts of cruelty and terrorism,” Ashrawi said.
