JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces injured more than 20 Palestinians on Friday night in the town of Abu Dis in the occupied West Bank’s Jerusalem district after clashes erupted between Palestinians and Israeli forces during a raid.
The Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance service told Ma’an that their paramedics had treated 25 people. Six of the injured were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets, 16 suffered from tear gas inhalation, and three suffered burns, the Red Crescent said.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they would look into reports on the clashes.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Due to the typically aggressive nature of the raids, clashes often erupt between local Palestinian youth who throw stones and are met in response with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.
Most recently, on Friday, 18-year-old Baraa Hamamda was
shot to death by Israeli forces during a detention raid in
al-Duheisha refugee camp which had broke out into clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces. Two days earlier, Israeli forces shot and killed two young Palestinians -- one 17-year-old and one 20-year-old -- and injured at least two others after a violent military raid into Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank erupted into clashes.
