BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least four Palestinians during across the occupied West Bank on Saturday, according official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Wafa cited Palestinian security sources as saying that a 22-year-old man from the village of Zububa in the northern occupied West Bank district of Jenin was detained at Israel's Bartaa military checkpoint southwest of Jenin city.

An unidentified Palestinian from the Jenin-area town of Sanur, who has previously spent more than seven years in Israeli prison, was also detained at a military checkpoint while he was on his way home from Jerusalem, according to sources cited by Wafa.

The report also said that a 24-year-old man was detained after Israeli forces raided and searched his family's home in the southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem.

Wafa reported later on Saturday that the Israeli army violently raided Jenin refugee camp and detained one Palestinian "youth," without identifying him further.

The raid sparked clashes with locals, with the Israeli army heavily firing rubber-coated steel bullets, live ammunition, tear gas canisters, and stun grenades against the camp’s residents, leading to several suffocation cases among them, local sources told Wafa.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an they were looking into reports of the detentions.

Israeli raids on Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, 6,200 Palestinians were being held in Israeli prison as of May.
