RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli interrogators assaulted an 18-year-old Palestinian prisoner during interrogation, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

PPS said that Israeli interrogators attempted to strangle Muhammad Ahed al-Khadour while interrogating him in the Russian compound detention center in Jerusalem.

Al-Khadour, from the village of Biddu in the occupied West Bank district of Jerusalem, has been detained since March 22. An Israeli court extended his detention until March 30.

Rights groups have widely documented the mistreatment, neglect, abuse, and torture of Palestinians in detention, including minors, and the harsh interrogation practices used to force their confessions.
