BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a high school student from his home in the town of Tuqu southeast of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank at midday on Monday.

The family of 17-year-old Muhammad Salim al-Badan told Ma'an that Israeli troops broke into their house on Monday afternoon and detained the teenager shortly after he had arrived home from school.

Locals told Ma'an that Israeli army forces chased a number of students to prevent them from walking through a dirt road which they usually take as a shortcut to school and back home.

After that, Israeli troops broke into al-Badan's house and detained him on charge of throwing stones at Israeli vehicles.

An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports.
