The committee said in a statement that after spending more than 15 years in Israeli prison, Talib was released in the the 1985 Jibril Agreement between the Israeli government and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), in which Israel released 1,150 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for three Israeli prisoners who had been captured during the First Lebanon War.
