Israeli soldier lightly wounded in shooting attack near Bethlehem-area settlement

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- An Israeli soldier was lightly injured in a shooting attack near an illegal settlement in the southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem on Monday night, the Israeli army reported.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an on Tuesday that overnight, “a gunman opened fire at forces in the vicinity of Efrat, lightly wounding a soldier who was treated at the scene."

The spokesperson added that Israeli forces were searching the area, but did not have immediate information as of Tuesday morning regarding whether anyone had been detained in relation to the attack.
