NEGEV (Ma’an) -- A three-month-old Palestinian infant died Thursday morning after a fire broke out in a three-story house in the Bedouin town of Tel al-Sabi in the Negev district of southern Israel.

The spokesperson for Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency service, said in a statement that MDA crews received a report of a fire at 9 a.m Thursday morning and rushed to the scene.

Crews said the infant, a girl, was seriously burned on all parts of her body, and was declared dead on the scene.

According to the spokesperson, after failing to save the infant, crews continued to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire remained unknown.
