Israeli settler runs over, seriously injures Palestinian man south of Nablus

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- A 40 year-old Palestinian man was seriously injured after he was run over by an Israeli settler car south of Nablus city in the northern occupied West Bank on Friday, according to Israeli police and Hebrew-language media.

Hebrew news websites reported that an Israeli settler ran over the Palestinian while he was walking on the side of the road, causing serious injuries. An Israeli ambulance reportedly transferred the Palestinian to Rabin Medical Center in the Israeli city of Petah Tikva.

The identity of the Palestinian man and of the settler who attacked him remained unknown.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri confirmed the incident in a statement, saying a “Palestinian was run over Friday by an Israeli vehicle near Ariel settlement, causing the Palestinians to be seriously injured.”

Al-Samri added that Israeli police opened investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident, which she referred to as an “accident.”
