12 Palestinians injured by Israeli forces during Shufat clashes

Oct. 27, 2016 8:10 P.M. (Updated: Oct. 27, 2016 8:10 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Several Palestinian youths were injured when Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas during clashes near the Shufat refugee camp in the occupied West Bank district of Jerusalem.

The spokesperson of the Fatah movement in the refugee camp, Thaer Fasfous, said that Israeli forces raided the refugee camp and were deployed in several areas, which triggered clashes.

However, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that Israeli forces dispersed youth who had gathered near the Israeli separation barrier in the area.

Fasfous said that 12 Palestinians, including a number of minors, were injured by rubber-coated steel bullets or suffered from tear gas inhalation during the clashes.

A Palestinian teen suffered from fractures in his fingers, while another youth suffered from a leg fracture during the clashes.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that medics also treated a 13-year-old who was injured with a rubber-coated steel bullet.
