Police: Man attempts to set himself ablaze in Jericho

JERICHO (Ma'an) -- Palestinian police said on Saturday that a man attempted to set himself ablaze on top of a building in Jericho in the eastern occupied West Bank.

Police spokesman Luay Irzeikat told Ma'an via telephone that Jericho police were alerted to a man who poured flammable liquid on his body on top of a building where the Jericho's tourist information office is located.

He said said police rushed to the scene and were able to stop the man before he set fire to his body.

The man was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment.
