Israeli forces detain Palestinian in East Jerusalem settlement

Oct. 6, 2016 10:05 A.M. (Updated: Oct. 6, 2016 4:46 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian in the Israeli settlement of Shimon HaTzadik in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday after finding pepper spray and handcuffs on him, Israeli police said.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said in a statement that policemen saw a “suspicious” Palestinian youth near the light rail station in Shimon HaTzadik on Wednesday evening and searched his bag, where they reportedly found pepper spray, handcuffs, and tape.

The Palestinian, who was reportedly from the occupied West Bank and had entered East Jerusalem without an Israeli-issued permit, was transferred for interrogation.
