Palestinians injured across West Bank and Gaza during Friday clashes with Israeli forces

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Five Palestinians were reportedly injured with live fire on Friday during clashes with Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Four Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli forces in the Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank.

Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that clashes broke out in the al-Muftah area of the camp, in which four were injured by live fire to their extremities.

They were taken to Beit Jala Hospital for treatment and were reportedly in stable condition.

Witnesses in Gaza told Ma'an that an unidentified youth was shot in the foot with live fire during clashes east of Al-Bureij, as dozens gathered there to protest Israeli actions.

Elsewhere, several youths gathered in the al-Shujayya neighborhood east of Gaza City, and set fire to tires near the border fence with Israel.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was looking into reports.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have crowded near the borders with Israel nearly every Friday to show solidarity with what Palestinians in Gaza have termed the “Jerusalem Intifada” taking place in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip since the unrest spread in October, the majority shot dead during clashes on the Gaza-Israel border.

More than 1,500 Gazans have been injured by Israeli forces since the start of 2015, the vast majority during clashes that broke out with the Israeli military during protests since October, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
