GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Sunday shot and injured a Palestinian man in the southern Gaza Strip, the Gaza-based Ministry of Health said.

A spokesperson with the ministry, Ashraf al-Qidra, said the man was shot and lightly injured east of Khan Yunis. The man was evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An Israeli army spokesperson did not immediately respond for comment.

According the United Nation's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Israeli forces have injured at least 72 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since the start of the year, and 933 in the occupied West Bank.
