Israeli forces shoot, injure 3 Palestinians in Hebron

Dec. 1, 2015 10:33 P.M. (Updated: Dec. 2, 2015 11:21 A.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and injured three Palestinians in the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron on Tuesday evening, locals and Israel's army said.

Witnesses said three youths were shot and injured by Israeli soldiers in Tel Rumeida, with one said to be in a serious condition with gunshot wounds to the abdomen

He was transferred to hospital for treatment. Two other Palestinians were shot in their legs, witnesses said.

Another unidentified youth was also reportedly detained as Israeli forces raided homes in the area.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an that Israeli soldiers opened fire at a group of Palestinians who were hurling a Molotov cocktail at a military post.

"The forces fired towards the perpetrators, who fled the scene. Hits were confirmed and later on in searches the forces found Molotov cocktails," the spokesperson added.

Earlier Tuesday, Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

In Tulkarem, an Israeli military officer shot and killed a 19-year-old Palestinian woman at a checkpoint saying that she had attempted to stab him.

Shortly before, a 16-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead by Israeli forces in the illegal Gush Etzion settlement bloc after he allegedly attempted to stab an Israeli settler.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis since the beginning of October, more than a quarter of whom were children.

While Israel alleged many of those were attempting to attack Israelis when they were shot, Palestinians and rights groups have disputed Israel's version of events in a number of cases.

The attacks that have taken place -- claiming the lives of 19 Israelis -- have been accompanied by a wave of popular unrest that has swept the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel.
