RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and injured at least six Palestinians during clashes that broke out in the Balou area of al-Bireh north of Ramallah on Sunday, medics said.

Two Palestinians were reportedly shot with live fire, while four were hit with rubber-coated steel bullets.

The clashes reportedly broke out when Israeli forces raided the neighborhood in a bid to drive Palestinians away from Beit El checkpoint.

They fired live and rubber-coated steel bullets at the Palestinians, who responded by throwing stones, Molotov cocktails, and empty bottles.

There have been clashes in and around al-Bireh almost every day since protests swept the occupied Palestinian territory at the beginning of last month.

On Friday, Israeli forces shot some 26 Palestinians with live rounds and another 35 with rubber-coated steel bullets during clashes in al-Bireh's Balou area, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
